The Independent Catholic Foundation was entrusted with eleven new endowments in 2025. To protect the donated permanent principal, these funds will begin releasing maximum annual grants in July 2029.
Dorothy M. Leipersock Memorial Endowment
Established with a generous bequest by Dorothy in her will for the perpetual care of St. Joseph the Worker Cemeteries, Williamsburg, Blair County, or the parish’s general needs as determined by the Pastor/ Administrator in consultation with the Parish Finance Council.
Susan and Anthony Kamnikar Endowment Fund
Established by Tony and Susan for the benefit of St. John Gualbert Cathedral Parish.
Janet Lee Luther Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund
Established by William J. Luther in memory of his wife Janet Lee Luther to provide scholarships to students with demonstrated financial need who are entering or continuing to attend St. Patrick School, Newry.
Charles A. & Josephine A. Freidhoff Scholarship Endowment
Established by John Freidhoff in memory of his parents who were devout Catholics and who sacrificed much to send their four children to Bishop McCort. This fund provides tuition assistance scholarships to students entering or continuing to attend grades 9 through 12 at Bishop McCort Catholic Academy.
Paul S. Malchesky Scholarship Endowment
Established by Paul S. Malchesky, Class of 1964, to award scholarships to students entering or continuing to attend grades 9 through 12 at Bishop Carroll Catholic High School, Ebensburg.
Bishop Carroll Catholic High School Class of 1964 Scholarship Endowment
Established by members of the Class of 1964 to provide tuition assistance and scholarships to students with demonstrated financial need entering or continuing to attend grades nine through twelve at BCCHS.
The Louis R. and Catherine Aust Family Scholarship Endowment Fund
Established with a bequest from Kathleen Ruth Aust to honor her parents, and affirmed by her siblings Barbara, Mary Agnes, Lou, Paul and Charles, to provide tuition assistance and scholarships to students with demonstrated need who are entering or continuing to attend grades 9 through 12 at Bishop McCort Catholic Academy.
Francis and Elizabeth “Betty” Ludwig Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund
Established by Mike and Mary Jo Ludwig to provide tuition assistance and scholarships to students entering or continuing to attend Saint Nicholas Catholic School, Nicktown, Pennsylvania whose families are active members of, and in good standing at, St. Nicholas Parish, Nicktown, Pennsylvania. Annual scholarships shall be presented in memory of Francis and Elizabeth “Betty” Ludwig.
St. Nicholas Catholic School Endowment Fund
Established with an anonymous gift to provide scholarships for students entering or continuing to attend Saint Nicholas Catholic School, Nicktown, Pennsylvania.
Roberto S. and Fredesvinda S. Luna Endowment Fund
Established by Doctors Roberto and Fredesvinda Luna for the benefit of Our Lady of Victory Parish, State College, St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Clearfield, and Seminarians in formation for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown.
Doctor Ronald Stellabotte Endowment Fund
Established by Doc Ron to provide (1) tuition assistance to students from St. Michael Parish, Hollidaysburg, attending grades K through 5 at Bishop Guilfoyle Academy, and (2) travel, lodging, and meals for families of current patients at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN.
